Obsessive compulsive disorder is very tough, especially for someone who’s never heard the term. The first tough problem is the fact that we have a tendency to over complicate things we don’t understand.
It’s time to let go of all of the intricacies of the emotions and fears that occupy your brain . Focus on that which you are grateful for and watch and notice how this attitude of gratitude will save you from this mental malady.
It’s hard to understand sometimes that emotions are just learned habits. We can’t control what pops into our heads, but we sure can control what we dwell upon. We can change that which we think about if we have a strong enough burning desire to get rid of OCD, it will be done.
What then should you do this day so that you may be free from obsessive compulsive behavior? You should first observe that there are those in the world who do not suffer with obsessive compulsive thoughts. Is there something wrong with you? Do you have mental issues? No. You have a habit.
I myself have quit smoking and drinking, drugs and OCD. I have also had great leaps and bounds regarding the facing of anxiety and these are my victories. I know they are real, not because I read about them in some book, but rather real world experience.
I don’t know about you, but I would rather learn from someone who knows what it’s like, who’s felt what it’s like and has beaten it. I have freed myself from this disgraceful, distasteful malady and I’m finally free.
Now it’s very obvious that freedom is within reach is it not? Now make a decision for yourself that you will get rid of your obsessive compulsive disorder and that you will experience and love mental freedom. Relentlessly pursue it and it shall be yours!
How do we continue to motivate ourselves? Whenever you try not to perform rituals, remember how bad things were in the past with OCD and repeat to yourself that you are choosing right now to be OCD free and that it cannot control you, it’s just an illusion!
The third thing that I would consider is to practice what you preach. Be a man/woman of your word. Do what you know in your mind to be right. Do some self soul searching and think about the things that you know you should change. Ask yourself what it is that is holding you back. What are your constraints to becoming OCD free?
When you challenge the things that are holding you back, you can defeat them. It could be no faith, no bravery, fear, or uncertainty. Get rid of all these things one by one. Do these things in bite sized chunks so that you won’t be overwhelmed and actually take some kind of action.
Take action: When you notice that there are other people on the planet who escaped from OCD after really being disabled by it, you get hope that you can do it too. Make up your mind to do the same thing. If they can do it, why can’t you? How can you fail if you really put your mind to it? I know and have faith that you can do it! I believe in you and sometimes that all we really need to hear!
