Choosing Radiant Heating that Works with Your House

Heating an area by means of passive heat radiation is known as underfloor radiant heating. Radiant heating is possible because heat naturally moves from a warmer area to a cooler one. There is considerably less heat loss through this method of heating than traditional methods of heating, and the heat delivered tends to be more pleasant as well. 2 varieties of underfloor heating exist.

The first variety of underfloor heating is water based.

Electricity based underfloor heating is variety 2.

Water based underfloor heating is the first variety. It is comprised of tubes filled with water, which are laid under the flooring layer. They are attached to a water pump and hot water tank. When heat is needed, the water pump forces hot water through the hoses.

Variety 2 is electricity based underfloor radiant heating. Electric underfloor heating consists of a metal coils connected to a mat which is laid underneath the floor. Specific amounts of electricity are run through the coils to produce heat. These are considerably simpler than the water version, and can be far cheaper.

Both varieties of radiant underfloor heating have their benefits. Sometimes electrical based heating element can interfere with some electrical items. While newer technology can prevent this, it also makes the price tag higher. There is no electrical interference problems with water based heating, and they can be used in conjunction with solar hot water tank. Both of these items’ electrical needs can be supplemented with solar electric panels

Underfloor heating is a great way to efficiently and effectively heat your house. It results in lower heating costs and a more pleasant atmosphere on those cold days. You always want to make sure that you know as much about these items before you decide which type to go with.
