After a hard day’s work do you feel like relaxing in your patio with a cup of coffee or tea, or have a drink in your deck? If its late evening you may need some lights, would you enjoy your outdoor experience if there was a single yellow or white bulb to light up the patio or deck?
I consulted a friend who advised me to think in terms of enhancing the look of the outdoors with outdoor lighting. Lighting up the outdoors with lights that are placed strategically to light up corners and throw light where it is required are necessary to change drab exteriors to a place where you would like to spend your evening with friends or all by yourself.
I think lighting up the outdoors is as important as removing weeds from your garden. You clean up the weeds to make your garden look well maintained and safe, similarly a well lighted patio, garden or deck are safe and look good. You can walk around safely at night, organize parties and enjoy the outdoor experience.
When I decide to change the look of my outdoor space namely the patio and garden, I decided to research on the lighting options available. I wanted something that was cost effective and would light up the outdoor space as well. All my research led me to two options one was low voltage lighting and the second was solar lighting.
I hate wires all over the garden, so I settled for solar outdoor lighting, it has several advantages over other lights, especially the fact that it saved me on electricity bills, such a boon in these times of recession.
I am quite concerned about the environment so solar outdoor lighting was indeed my first choice. The numerous choices available in lighting fixtures also made it easy for me to decide. Once I decide on the kind of lights I needed, I went over the patio and garden and checked all the spots that needed lighting.
In the present times running a house on a limited income is no mean task. The solar lights also contributed to my image of an environmentally conscious person. I got the prettiest light fixtures because that is one more advantage with solar lights they come in many patterns so one doesn’t have to make do with few dull looking fixtures.
For my patio I found some pretty looking light fixtures that lighted up my barbecue and the little stone table I asked my husband to fix up for having dinner with friends. You should just have a look at my patio since I got it done with lights. I have some delightful parties there and we enjoy our evenings in the patio
Think what part you want to focus on and how many lights you need. Mark all the spots where you want lights fixed and then go to purchase outdoor lights and light fixtures.
Once you have decided what parts you want highlighted then decide on the shape size and pattern of light fixtures and light up your outdoors.
